Fornasetti Profumi - Pistola - Incense in Wooden Box with Ceramic Lid

Fornasetti Profumi - Pistola - Incense in Wooden Box with Ceramic Lid

Otto is the signature fragrance that was created by master perfumer Olivier Polge, working in close collaboration with Barnaba Fornasetti. He captured the essence of Fornasetti by exploring the olfactory character of the family house and gardens, registering significant herbs and the woods of the interior. In the final scent, notes of thyme, lavender, iris root and cedarwood evoke the personal environment, while ethereal incense notes at the base interpret the dream-like dimension of Fornasetti's graphic poetry.

Pistola
This design is a repeat decor from the original Profumi collection. This design has been used numerous times by Fornasetti on trays and boxes since the 50’s. This season sees a twist with the decor set against a white background.

Fornasetti - Nippon Kodo
All incense products have been created by the renowned Japanese manufacturer, Nippon Kodo. Nippon Kodo’s devotion to making fine incense follows a long and honoured tradition that started more than 430 years ago.

This expertise can be traced back to highly skilled artisans that were the principal providers of rare and exquisite aromas to the Japanese Court.

Unlike most incense sticks, which are made with a bamboo core, Nippon Kodo’s Incense sticks are hand-made using floral ingredients and natural gums and resins from precious woods. Blended with organic raw materials each incense stick is then formed, evenly cut and left in a mould to dry.

To enable each incense stick to burn and suffuse its mild fragrance evenly, a special drying and hardening process takes place over several days in a room where the humidity and temperature is controlled by a system of wooden shutters and windows that allow in just the right amount of air and light.

Koh-Do (The Way of Incense)
The centuries old “Koh-Do” (The Way of Incense), is derived from a particular Japanese incense culture that was firmly attached to a keen awareness of the seasons. The “Ten Virtues of Koh” was a list created to determine the benefits derived from the use of incense. Created int the fifteenth century these Ten Virtues have been passed down from generation to generation and are still cited today as uniquely capturing the spirit of Koh (Incense).

Atelier Fornasetti

The designs and decors of the Fornasetti Profumi per la Casa vessels were selected and re-worked by Barnaba Fornasetti together with his creative team in their Milanese graphic research studio. They used elements from the Fornasetti graphic archive and reinterpreted them on new shapes and objects.
