Parfums d'Armando Martinez - Pillow of Flowers
Pillow of Flowers, an aldehydic feminine scent inspired by the great old floral aldehydic scents of the past. Imagine a 1950's drama or a comedy; white couture clothes, white interiors and white flowers in vases.
A scent that takes the usual top note of aldehydes and brings them down to the base. The first thing that hits you is the base notes which include vanilla, opoponax, frankincense, vetiver and aldehydes. As the base notes slowly melt away, they make way for a white floral bouquet of jasmine, roses, tuberose, lily of the valley, lilac, orchid and ylang ylang. A scent of glamour, a scent that evokes another era but is very much in touch with today's modernity.
Armando Martinez, the createur:
I am very passionate about what I do here. I am most surprised that when I have created a scent with some inspiration and lots of error, I create a scent that I am very pleased with. As I have read before about great perfumers in the past such as Jean Carles. Most of what the perfumers of his day which are well known classics such as Shocking de Schiaparelli, Tabu, Canoe and many others were in fact, "happy mistakes" (my own way of saying they made something that they didn't anticipate to be what they intended to be). The components that they put together just fit well and happily created a most harmonious creation.
I like to think that the scents I create fall into this sort of happenstance category. I have the best intentions of creating something from an inspiration of another great classic of perfumery. But the outcome ends up to be quite unique unto itself and totally my own, which is a blessing.
