Comme des Garçons

The Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo is the face behind the fashion label Comme des Garçons.

Originally, she studied philosophy, fine arts and literature in her home city of Tokyo. As she never studied fashion design, or enjoyed any comparable training, Rei conveyed her initial ideas about patterns and cuts verbally to her colleagues. After working for a while in this unusual way for a textile company, she began working in 1967 as a freelance stylist. She founded her own label ”Comme des Garçons" in 1973 and opened her first boutique in 1975.

In 1981 she presented her creations for the first time in the West, namely in Paris. The public and press were shocked. Her designs were not the convention. Since she used dark colours - mostly black – a colour which at the time was not current, the fashion world called Kawakubo´s style "Hiroshima Chic".

But Rei Kawakubo is not content with only fashion designing. In addition to her fashion collections she also designs furniture, packaging, and in cooperation with the perfumer Marc Buxton has created a complete collection of fragrances.

Care instructions for your Candle

Like any quality product, your Comme des Garçons scented candle also needs a little care and attention. In order to prolong your enjoyment it is advisable to follow a few golden rules: Do not place your candle outdoors or in a draft. Place your candle on a heat resistant surface (avoid Glass, marble, etc.) and away from flammable materials. Share your candle indoors and / or in a draft on. Please ensure that a distance of 1.6 from the candle to the ceiling is maintained. 

The first time the candle is lit, let it burn for as long as possible so that the entire surface, ergo the complete wax level has melted. This will encourage an even and steady combustion of your candle. In order to optimize this, it is also important to trim the wick of your candle to around 5mm each time before lighting.

Please do not move your candle when it is lit or when the wax is still hot and in liquid form. Do not let your candle longer than four hours at a time and never leave a burning candle unattended. Ensure that burning candles are kept out of reach of children and pets.
