Andy Tauer - Collectible - PHI - Une Rose de Kandahar

PHI is a luxurious scent, inspired by a natural extract of roses produced in Afghanistan's rose region, Nangarhar. This rose oil is extremely rare and of highest quality. Inspired by these roses, growing in a dry and rough land, PHI is a rare gem, complementing contrasting lines, rich in natural raw materials that add depth and authenticity. Due to the limited amount of the rose oil, une rose de Kandahar is not guaranteed to be available all the time.

PHI starts with a rich fruity line of apricot. An all natural apricot extract with its surprising richness enchants and blends into a cinnamon line and hints of bitter almond, softened by bergamot essential oil.

These spices lead over to voluptuous roses in the fragrance’s heart: Extremely rare rose essential oil with its unique scent of spices, plums and flower petals blends into rose absolute from Bulgaria and hints of Bourbon geranium. The rose petals melt on the skin into a dark tobacco fond, built around an amazing absolute of dried tobacco leaves.

The animalic, leathery and woody tobacco opens the ground for a generously dosed layer of patchouly in the base of PHI. Here, woody and gourmand notes melt into animalic nuances. Vetiver, vanilla and tonka add richness and brilliance. A generous dose of exclusive musk and ambergris round the body of the fragrance off and encircle the roses.

The Flacon & Packaging
PHI - une rose de Kandahar comes in a Tauer pentagonal clear glass flacon with an elegant label. It is packed in the signature rectangular tin box, protected by blue cardboard sleeves that seal the tin box. Like all of Andy’s products, PHI - une rose de Kandahar is handmade in Switzerland, and comes with a card inside the box, saying "Enjoy! Andy Tauer".

Roses as an Alternative
In 2004, the German "Welthungerhilfe" started a project supporting local farmers in the hilly region of Nangarhar. Farmers growing poppy were given a forward-looking alternative to make a sustainable living in the rough hills: 1500 meters above sea level roses started to bloom. Rosa damascena, with its pink flowers, gives a wonderful quality of organic rose oil that is unique and rare. Although the quantities of the organic rose oil produced are rising, the demand is larger than the production capacities.

The rose oil is produced locally giving jobs to farmers and the local population, and what started with 20 courageous local farmers grew into a cooperative of more than 700 farmers cultivating roses in the region.

Andy Tauer – The Perfumer Wonder from Switzerland
Shortly after the new millennium began he arrived, out of nowhere: The perfume Pope Luca Turin stumbled across "L'Air du Désert", Andy Tauer's second scent and it all took off from there. Following enthusiastic fragrance reviews, the name Tauer haunted various forums and perfume blogs throughout the world, beginning a wave of fame which is since unabated. Several newspapers and magazines wrote articles about Andy Tauer and his once quiet life in the Alpine republic was well and truly over.

Unlike most of today's perfumers, Andy Tauer has never visited a school of perfume or completed any formal training in this regard. He is a chemist and a pure autodidact in the art of perfumery. Andy’s sole driving force was and is his passion, his love of perfume and the idea to create something unique. "Perfumery the classical way, perfumes created with love" as his self-imposed motto promises.

With heart and soul Andy Tauer has since produced a number of perfumes which will hopefully be followed by many more yet. All of his fragrances are manufactured and bottled by hand in a small-scale production in Zurich using the highest quality ingredients. He has since built up a well-earned fan base around the world that loves his fragrances and enthusiastically follows in his unique scent blog the development of new creations that are made with love.

We are very proud to present you Andy Tauer's unique collection.
