These irresistible everyday cravings are the inspiration behind Akro, a fresh and innovative perfume brand that captures the essence of a high, of a rush. Master perfumer Olivier Cresp and his visionary daughter Anaïs are the minds behind this unique concept. Thanks to Olivier’s experience and expertise, combined with Anaïs’s ingenuity, thirteen extraordinary fragrances have been created.
Seaweed, hazelnut, cumin and whisky are just some of the unconventional notes in this original perfume collection.
Olivier combined these special ingredients with fragrances from the renowned range of the flavour manufacturer Firmenich, for whom he has been formulating fragrances since 1992.
About Akro
The story of Akro is the story of a French family of perfumers, spanning from the early days of the perfume industry in Grasse to today’s most sought-after creations.
It all began a few years ago, when the founder, Anaïs Cresp, was living in London and searching for her place in the world. Whilst working in the pubs and bars of the lively and diverse Ladbroke Grove neighbourhood, she was fascinated by the scents around her – from the flower stalls, coffee houses and charcoal grills, to the whisky and leather of the grand old Irish pubs, and the ever-present scent of cannabis in the air.
After a long, enjoyable summer in the city, Anaïs had an idea: what if she bottled these distinctive scents and turned them into perfumes? Instead of the usual perfume notes, we could wear our favourite cravings on our skin.
Olivier Cresp
Fortunately, she knew exactly the right man to make this vision a reality: her father Olivier, a master perfumer behind some of the world’s most famous fragrances – including ‘Light Blue’ by Dolce & Gabbana and ‘Angel’ by Mugler. Father and daughter began to exchange ideas, stories and, eventually, fragrance concepts. Soon after, Akro was born.
When it came to deciding where Akro should be based, there was only one option: Ladbroke Grove. The place where it all began. Home to Trellick Tower, Portobello Market, Honest Jon’s, a hundred pirate radio stations, a thousand hookahs, Joe Strummer, AJ Tracey, the characters of Martin Amis, those marvellous old Irish pubs on the high street and the ever-present hustle and bustle of the Westway.
Every day, Akro finds inspiration on the streets of this world, in the backstreets of W10, in our everyday desires and the dreams that are close to our hearts.
