“Jean-David offered me the eponymous book by Madeline Miller. I wanted to capture the sensuality of the text, the ‘sense of words’ that emanate throughout the pages. I envisioned a chameleon-like orange blossom on a bed of musks, alternately virginal and warrior-like, capturing all its nuances and complexity. I decided to pair it with the immortelle flower, with its characteristic warm and salty accents, a nod to the Mediterranean and a playful reference to the vulnerability of Achilles’ heel. Geranium and moss give an impression of a fougère in disguised, alike the ambiguous feelings that unite the two heroes.” — Alexandra Carlin
